History since 1998
L'idée de mettre sur pied un événement de voitures
anciennes trottait dans la tête des organisateurs depuis longtemps, mais ce
n'est qu'en 1998 que la première édition de l'Auto-Fest a eu lieu à
Bedford. Entouré de gens
extrêmement compétents en matière de véhicules de collection, le comité
organisateur a pu compter sur le savoir-faire de ses nombreux collaborateurs
afin de remporter année après année un succès incontestable.
Tout a commencé par un contact établi avec
Monsieur Guy Lecomte, autrefois relationniste pour le Club Corvette Nord-Sud,
également membre du comité organisateur du Gala international de l'Auto de
Montréal 2000. Monsieur Lecomte,
dont le nom figure sur le trophée du "choix du public" est aussi
fondateur d'Auto-Contact, une entreprise de références de voitures anciennes
auprès des médias, cinéastes, projets multimédias et événements spéciaux.
L'Auto-Fest s'est taillée une place de choix parmi
les expositions du genre au Québec. Avec plus de 330 voitures anciennes dès sa
première édition, la popularité de l'événement a dépassé largement les attentes
initiales du comité organisateur. Appuyé par une programmation unique et
avant-gardiste, l'Auto-Fest continue de se démarquer. En fait, depuis ses
débuts, l'Auto-Fest a accueilli pas moins de 4000 véhicules, bien au-delà de
nos attentes. Maintenant à sa 11e
année d’existence, le nouveau comité a décidé d’ajouter une deuxième journée
d’activités et ce pour les autos et les motos plus récentes.
A BIT OF HISTORY…
The
idea of putting together an event dealing with antique vehicles had been
roaming around the minds of the organizers for quite some time, but it was only
in 1998 that the first edition of the Bedford Auto-Fest became reality.
Surrounded by extremely competent people in the matters of collector vehicles,
the organizing committee could count on the know-how of its numerous
collaborators in order to make a success of the event year after year.
It all
started by a contact via the Internet with Mr. Guy Lecompte who was at the time
the public-relations man for the Club Corvette Nord-Sud and a member of
the organizing committee of the “Gala International de l’Auto de Montréal
2000”. In honor of his involvement with the organization, the
People’s Choice trophy bears his name. He is also the founder of
Auto-Contact, a company that refers antique vehicles to the media, movie and
commercial makers, and for special events .
The
Auto-Fest has carved itself a place amongst the exhibitions of its kind in
Québec. With over 330 antique vehicles its first year, the popularity of
the event has largely surpassed the initial expectations of the organizing
committee. By offering a unique
programming of events, the Auto-Fest continues to stand apart of the
conventional. In fact, since its beginnings, the Bedford Auto-Fest welcomed
over 4000 vehicles, well over our initial expectations. Now in its 11th year of
existence, the new committee has decided to add a second day of activities for
newer model cars and motorcycles.
